The Mariokart-themed builds on my other pages were also part of a larger submission for a LEGO building competition hosted by The Rambling Brick. (A LEGO Enthusiast Website)
The competition was announced shortly after the release of the first wave of LEGO Super Mario sets back in August of 2020. And the challenge? "What's Next for LEGO Super Mario?"
Builders were tasked with creating brand-new, custom set designs they would love to see in the new (at the time) LEGO Super Mario theme.
(I was made aware of the challenge by Will Heron, a fellow member of TexLUG Austin, who recommended it to me knowing that I was a big fan of the new Mario sets.)
All total, I had three submissions:
1. "Captain Toad's Canyon Caper", which won 1st place!
2. "Mariokart Motorway Mayhem", in honorable mentions
3. "Donkey Kong's Broken Plane Bayou", another honorable mention
