In 2017, to celebrate the release of LEGO City's new Jungle subtheme (seems like an oxymoron to me), The LEGO Group ran a competition where builders would submit jungle adventure themed builds.
The winners would take a trip to the jungles of Costa Rica, complete with zip-lining and a visit to a wildlife rescue!
Though we didn't end up winning, I built and submitted a model on behalf of my family showcasing the kind of adventure any young explorer would love to partake in.
Using pieces from some Jungle sets I already owned, I created the mother of all expedition vehicles: a massive mobile off-road base of operations, complete with beds, a lab, and plenty of equipment storage.
The mission? Retrieve the treasure from within an ancient step-pyramid, complete with a crocodile-infested river, waterfall, man (or minifig) eating spiders, a jaguar, and snakes. Why did it have to be snakes?
The temple itself features functional collapsing/exploding stairs, a flooded vault room, and a collapsing floor for adventurers to traverse.
I had a great time building it!
